WFH or Back To The Office?

WFH or back to the office? You decide.

People and the companies they work for have had to adapt their working practices during the period of lockdown, but as things have opened up again, I thought I’d ask the question.

Many people have been surprised by how much more productive they have become, and companies have been quick to spot the benefits.

My VA’s agency saw the cost advantages and closed their offices and now hotdesk once a week from a co-working space.

Facebook and Google have said they will let employees continue working from home for the rest of the year.

Yet, I’ve also read reports saying that people miss the team pizza on Fridays and the Monday morning catch up. The creative ideas that can spark just from bumping into people in the office aren’t happening either.

I have worked from home for the past 14 years, and can’t imagine going into an office – I love the flexibility and time I gain by running my coaching business online. I do find myself dashing out to the coffee shop sometimes to feel the buzz of being around people.

So which is better? I thought I’d put it to the vote.

I have learnt to recognise opportunities to step beyond my comfort zone in the pursuit of things that bring me true fulfilment – it was a small tweak that has ended up making a significant difference. We now speak on a regular basis and Simon has become the voice which says “you can do this”.
