Consistency is key.
Breaking News – I recently caught a bus.
It felt incredibly strange! It’s only been a few months, and it amazed me how quickly normal things become unfamiliar.
I know the brain naturally prunes the networks that we don’t regularly use (that’s why your knowledge of a foreign language gets rusty between visits), but the familiarity of a bus! Because we can forget things this easily, I think it is probably a good idea to consistently do the things that bring us the results we want.
Here are the four things I do every day – without fail.
- Four rounds of breathing Visioning practice
- 2.5 minute cold shower
- 20 minutes of exercise
- Gratitude journal
I do them because they improve my mood and mental state and set me up for the day – but also if I missed any of them, I think I would probably struggle to get back into them – particularly the cold shower.
I’ll say it again… Consistency is key.
