The Cage With Golden Bars
Just because it’s got gold bars, doesn’t mean it’s not a cage. This is a fairly typical story of a guy who works for a bank.
He lives in Kent, is married and has 4 children. He is suffering from negative thoughts, low self-esteem, and his marriage is suffering. He goes to work each day asking himself if the other people on the train are as bored as he is. He earns a 6 figure salary. He has to keep going because he needs the paycheck. Each Christmas he gets a bonus and a pat on the back and suddenly another year has passed. He used to love his job, but now he often hides in his office, waiting for the weekend.
One day his bank hires some trainers, and he is struck by a story one of the trainers tells about being stuck in a golden cage. He meets the trainer, who asks lots of great questions, and they decide to do some coaching together.
6-months later he has a new role at the bank and has started a project at local schools, teaching financial literacy to teenagers.
He feels alive. He loves what he does. He and his wife have started having sex again. He sits on the train to work, asking himself if other people feel as good as he does.
